What to Expect

From thyroid to abdomen to leg scans, our various body imaging options allow you to select scans that will meet your unique health concerns. Selecting multiple body imaging services is a cost-effective way to receive more imaging with discounted package prices. Reference our package offerings below to learn more.

Remember, a provider’s referral is NOT required to schedule any imaging study.

After you’ve selected your body imaging options, you’re ready to book an appointment. You will receive instructions and a confirmation email concerning your appointment. If at any time you have questions or need to reschedule your appointment, call our office at (626) 381-9430 and we can assist you.

As you prepare for your scan, here are a few notes to remember:

  • Fasting is required for certain imaging options. Be sure to follow Sono Center Medical Group’s specific instructions.
  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that is easy to remove. In some cases, you might be asked to change into a gown provided by us.
  • Take your regular medications as prescribed, unless your healthcare provider instructs you otherwise.

If you’re uncertain about any aspect of the preparation, don’t hesitate to contact us or your healthcare provider for clarification.

Body Imaging Options

Carotid Duplex Ultrasound

Examines blood flow through the carotid arteries, the thickness of the carotid artery wall, and checks for clots.

Thyroid Ultrasound

Examines the thyroid gland, which plays a crucial role in regulating various metabolic processes in the body through the production of thyroid hormones.

Breast (Bilateral) Ultrasound

Examines female breast tissue, including the axilla (underarm/lymph nodes), to screen for small, invasive breast cancers in women (This is not a SonoCine AWBUS exam).

Abdominal Aortic

Screens for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Recommended for patients who have a family history of abdominal aortic aneurysm and/or are male patients ages 65-75 who have smoked at least 100 cigarettes in their lifetime.

Abdominal Complete

Examines the internal structures of the abdomen including the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, and kidneys.

Renal (with Bladder)

Examines the kidneys and the bladder to evaluate the structure and function of these organs through a non-invasive procedure.

Pelvic Transabdominal (Non-OB)

Examines female organs and structures including the uterus, cervix, vagina, fallopian tubes, and ovaries through a non-invasive procedure to monitor conditions affecting the pelvic area.

Prostate (Transabdominal)

Examines the prostate gland in males to diagnose and monitor various prostate conditions through a non-invasive and simple procedure.

Scrotum (Testicular)

Examines the testicles and the surrounding structures to evaluate the health and condition of the testicles, epididymis (a coiled tube that stores and transports sperm), and other adjacent tissues through a non-invasive and painless procedure.

Arterial Duplex Ultrasound (Legs)

Is a non-invasive diagnostic imaging test used to evaluate the blood flow and structure of the arteries in the legs.

Venous Duplex Ultrasound (Legs)

Is a non-invasive diagnostic procedure used to evaluate the blood circulation in the veins of the legs.
